Introducing our 4th VAULT3D Podcast guest, Cath Simard.
Cath is a landscape photographer who blends reality & imagination to create surreal blue mountain composites. Her process is rigorous and not for the faint of heart, come see why:
“I love the outdoors. I love the mountains, I love the bears, I love to hike at night. I'm a little bit, I don't wanna say crazy, but maybe fearless, I would say, but I think that's just part of who I am. And, um, I just love to push myself mentally and physically and that's what really allows me to, uh, to actually connect with my work and be proud of myself.” - Cath Simard, SHILLR VAULT3D Podcast, Episode 5.

“Money speaks to everyone, but, you know, art speaks across time. It's one of those few things that survive civilizations and through the erosion of time, these cultural objects are often, sometimes the only thing that exists after, hundreds or even thousands of years have passed.” - Bonafidehan, SHILLR CURAT3D Podcast, Episode 8.

“Why Art?” 🖼️ w/ SHILLR feat. Rocky Pocky:
Last week, on Why Art? with SHILLR, we had a fun chat with Rocky Pocky surrounding his art collecting journey in web3. Often times, we hear artist being burdened by the idea of utility, Rocky has a clear definition of what it means to him:
“I think the artists sometimes do feel a lot of pressure to like, you know, bring utility to their collectors and like they'll feel bad if the floor price is down and then whoever collected previously paid more for a piece or whatever. But honestly, for me, I don't really give a fuck about that kind of stuff.” - Rocky Pocky, Why Art? w/ SHILLR.

“PROMPT3D” 🤖 w/ SHILLR feat. Dan Leveille | Presented by DeviantArt:
On PROMPT3D, we went down the rabbit hole with Dan regarding AI from the developer perspective. When chatting through concerns from the developer community surrounding AI, this was Dan's response:
“I think the most fascinating thing about using it as a developer is that I feel like I'm coding less, but I'm learning more, and when I ask it questions, it doesn't just give me the code I ask for. It teaches me.” - Dan Leveille, PROMPT3D w/ SHILLR | Presented by DeviantArt.

art gm #77 - disastercut: Xerox Distortion 🖨️
1/ DC is an artist who uses xerography to create intricate black and white artwork that reflect future dystopia. Their work visualizes themes like destruction, technological dependency, pessimistic futurism & mass impending doom.
2/ I vibe with DC's art because their process of creation results in incredible textures, shadows & patterns and allows them to pack so much detail into each piece. For instance, the majority of their subjects' faces reveal motherboards, accentuating the notion of tech dependency.
3/ A great entry into DC's work is through 'Crusher' (Nifty Gateway link). The level of detail on this piece is insane. The gritty vibe given off by the tattered flag, glitched bird & skeleton crew play well into the seriousness that is the destruction of war.
4/ If I had unlimited ETH I would cop 'Doomtech' (Foundation link). A boy sits in front of a wall of interconnected modules, his look saying "this is our life now, this is reality". The spider necklace suggests impending doom, the butterflies represent a last glimpse of hope.
5/ You should scope out DC's work because I've personally never seen anything like it. Their art is crisp and pops, which is impressive given the b&w nature of their work. Their themes are worth sitting with, displaying the worst of the future in the most beautiful way possible.
If you're interested in checking out other artists I've featured or would like to recommend someone I should look into, head over to the below thread. Thanks for reading! ☕️ ✨ 💚
